If you have a  refund from your federal income tax return it usually takes up to eight business days to process it. You must be efile eligible . Which means your income tax return will be electronically filed with the government, 90 % of the population is eligible to be efiled.

 

Mailed

 

If your income tax returns have to be paper-filed and mailed it generally takes four to six weeks to receive your refund.

 

How can I check the status of my refund

 

If you haven't received your refund in the above mention time, Please call 1-800-959-1956. You will need the following information to access your file: 

 

• Your social insurance number;

• Your month and year of birth; and

•  The total income you entered on line 150 of your income tax return. You will find this on the T1  income summary you received from us.

You should receive any refund to which you are entitled:

 

• Within 14 working days if you file your tax return online

• Within four to six weeks if you file your tax return by mail

• Your social insurance number and your access code 

• Your social insurance number, your date of birth and the amount on line 199 of your income tax return for the current year

• The total income you entered on line 199 of your income tax return. You will find line 199 on the TP1 income summary you received from us.
